Battersea Power Station is London’s largest new neighbourhood, standing proudly on the River Thames. Homes, workspaces, shops, restaurants, parkland, a town square and dedicated tube station occupy a 42-acre site, at the heart of which stands the iconic Grade II* listed Power Station, re-imagined by Wilkinson Eyre Architects.
Our brief was to elevate the Battersea Power Station brand. We set about creating an identity, brand story and marketing strategy that articulated the Power Station and destination as a whole. The scope included the Battersea Power Station conversion by Wilkinson Eyre, and two new developments: Battersea Prospect Place by Gehry Partners and Battersea Roof Gardens by Foster + Partners.
Insight gathering revealed a strong brand story about the unmistakable optimism and positivity of the people who live and work in the area, and also of the client team. This led to the legacy idea, Powered by Positive.
Positive energy characterises our work for Battersea Power Station. A suite of animated patterns depict the individual buildings, and a new motion-designed logotype represents the Power Station coming back to life, while a visitor centre brings an experiential dimension to the Powered by Positive concept. It features a 30m2 immersion room where a jewel-like interactive model, controlled by a bespoke app, activates films about the neighbourhood on a 6m-wide LED wall.
